Sky Brown, the youngest Nike-sponsored athlete globally, skyrocketed to fame by learning skateboarding tricks from YouTube. Practicing with Olympic snowboarding medalist Shaun White, she made history at 8, becoming the youngest participant at the 2016 Vans US Open, though she fell during her heat.
Brown turned professional at 10, securing sponsorships from Nike, Almost Skateboards, and Skateistan. In 2018, she won “Dancing with the Stars: Juniors” and the Simple Session event in Estonia in 2019.
Deciding to compete for Great Britain, Brown clinched third place at the World Skateboarding Championship in 2019. Despite a severe fall in 2020 that left her with skull fractures, she remained resolute about aiming for gold at the Tokyo Olympics, where she became Great Britain’s youngest-ever Olympian at 13. In July 2021, she won the X Games women’s skateboarding park gold medal.
