In 2019, Victor Victor Worldwide, a division of Universal Music, noticed Pop and signed him. He quickly made waves with his debut breakout single “Welcome to the Party”. The song gained so much traction that remixes featuring Nicki Minaj and Skepta were released.

Authorities also attempted to question him about his connections to the Crips, a street gang, but he declined to answer. He had to pay a $250,000 bond and agreed to stay away from known Crips members as part of his punishment.

Pop Smoke Death

Pop Smoke tragically lost his life on February 19, 2020, when four individuals wearing hoodies fatally shot him at his home in Hollywood Hills, California. They shot him twice in the chest during a break-in. Despite rushing him to a nearby Medical Center, doctors could not save him, and they pronounced him dead after several hours.

His final resting place is Green-Wood Cemetery. Shortly after the incident, authorities arrested three adult men and two minors in connection with his murder. Authorities stated that Pop’s association with a gang known as the Crips, which is involved in drug smuggling, led to his death.
