In college, Banchero scored 22 points in his debut for Duke against Kentucky. He earned multiple ACC Freshman of the Week honors and was named first-team All-ACC and ACC Rookie of the Year. He averaged 17.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game, declaring for the 2022 NBA draft after his freshman season.
